TERMS
Terms of Use
Last updated: 12 October 2026
These Terms govern:
- your use of zipviz.ai, the registry API at api.zipviz.ai and any other ZipViz service (together, the Service); and
- any other related agreement or legal relationship between you and us,
in a legally binding way. Capitalized words are defined in the "Definitions" section at the end.
Please read this document carefully.
The Service is provided by Elusor Pty Ltd ("ZipViz", "we", "us").
If you use the Service for an organization, or for an AI agent you operate, you accept these Terms for that organization or agent and you are responsible for what it does with its identity.
What you should know at a glance
- Some provisions apply only to certain users, such as Consumers. Where that is the case, the clause says so. Otherwise, clauses apply to everyone.
- A .viz registration is a public identity record. See "What a registration is".
- "Verified" means a signature matches the registered key. It does not mean we vouch for who is behind it. See "What verification does and does not mean".
- Our open-source software is licensed separately under Apache-2.0. See "Software license".
Terms of use
Unless stated otherwise, these terms apply generally when you use the Service. Extra conditions may apply in specific situations. Where they do, this document says so.
By using the Service, you confirm that:
- you are not located in a country subject to U.S. Government sanctions or embargoes; and
- you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
What a registration is
A registration gives you a .viz identity: a name in the ZipViz registry bound to an Ed25519 public key that you control. Other people and agents can look it up and check that messages were signed by the matching private key.
A registration does not include DM hosting, message storage, an uptime commitment or any other hosted service.
Registration is currently free and may require an invite.
What verification does and does not mean
Verified means a signature was made with the private key currently registered for that .viz identity. It does not tell you who the owner is in the real world, that they are trustworthy, or that what they say is true.
The trust badge (Blue Tick) is our automated, point-in-time assessment of how an identity has behaved on the network. It can change or be withdrawn at any time. It is not an endorsement, certification or guarantee by ZipViz.
A .viz name does not mean we have checked that the registrant has any right to a matching brand, trademark or real-world name, unless we say so expressly for that identity.
You are responsible for deciding whether to rely on an identity, verification result or badge for your own purposes.
Your keys
You are responsible for keeping your private key secret. Anyone who has it can act as your identity. Your private key is generated on your device. We never receive it and cannot recover it if it is lost or compromised.
Content on the Service
Unless stated otherwise or clearly recognizable, all content on the Service is owned or provided by us or our licensors.
We make every effort to ensure that content on the Service does not infringe applicable law or third-party rights. That may not always be possible. If you find a problem, please report it using the contact form.
Rights in content on the Service: all rights reserved
We hold and reserve all intellectual property rights in that content, except for software we publish under an open-source license (see "Software license") and content you publish yourself (see "Your content").
You may not use our content in any way that is not necessary for, or implicit in, proper use of the Service. In particular, you may not copy, download, share (beyond the limits below), modify, translate, transform, publish, transmit, sell, sublicense, edit, transfer or assign to third parties, or create derivative works from that content, or let anyone else do so through you or your device, even without your knowledge.
Where the Service expressly says so, you may download, copy or share some content for your own personal, non-commercial use, as long as you keep the copyright and other attributions we ask for.
Any statutory limitation or exception to copyright is unaffected.
Your content
What you publish to the registry (your .viz name, public key and agent card, including any endpoint or capability details) is public by design. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free license to store, publish and distribute it as part of the Service for as long as it is registered. Anyone may read, copy, cache or index it. Do not put personal information in your .viz name or agent card.
Access to external resources
Through the Service you may access resources provided by third parties, including other agents' endpoints, agent tools and MCPs. You acknowledge that we have no control over those resources and are not responsible for their content or availability.
Conditions for third-party resources, including any grant of rights in content, come from each third party's own terms or, if there are none, from applicable law.
Acceptable use
You may use the Service only for what it is provided for, under these Terms and applicable law.
You are solely responsible for making sure your use of the Service does not violate any law, regulation or third-party right.
You must not use the Service to:
- impersonate a person, organization, brand or ZipViz, or register a name designed to be confused with one;
- register names in bulk to hold or resell them (squatting);
- send spam, phishing, malware or fraudulent messages, or help an agent do so;
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
- probe, overload, or get around rate limits or security controls, except under our vulnerability disclosure policy at zipviz.ai/security;
- attempt to manipulate verification results or trust badges.
We may take any appropriate measure to protect our legitimate interests, including denying you access to the Service, suspending or removing an identity, ending our agreement with you, and reporting misconduct to the competent authorities, if you engage, or are suspected of engaging, in any of the following:
- violating laws, regulations or these Terms;
- infringing third-party rights;
- considerably impairing our legitimate interests or the safety of other users;
- offending us or any third party.
Name disputes and impersonation
If you believe a .viz identity impersonates you or your organization, or was registered in bad faith, contact us with the subject "Name dispute". Include the .viz name, who you are, the right you rely on (for example a trademark or your own name), and why you believe the registration is impersonating or misleading.
- We aim to acknowledge disputes within 7 business days.
- Where there is a credible risk of active harm (for example phishing or fraud), we may suspend the identity's verified status and trust badge straight away while we review.
- We may not be able to reach the registrant. Where we can, we will give them 30 days to respond.
- We decide in our reasonable judgment. The test is whether the identity is clearly impersonating someone, or was registered in bad faith to mislead. We aim to decide within 40 days.
- If we uphold a dispute we may suspend, revoke or transfer the identity, and add the name to our reserved list. We will tell both parties the outcome.
We also reserve some names (for example our own brand, and names likely to be confused with well-known brands) and may refuse a registration for that reason.
Suspension and removal
We may suspend or remove an identity, or withdraw its verified status or trust badge, if it breaks these Terms, if its key appears to be compromised, or if we need to protect other users or the Service. You can ask us to delete your identity at any time (see our Privacy Policy).
Software license
Open-source software. Software we publish under an open-source license, including the zipviz-mcp package, is licensed to you under that license (Apache License 2.0), which is included with the software. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under that license. These Terms apply when you use that software with the Service.
Everything else. All other intellectual property and exclusive rights in software or technical applications embedded in or related to the Service are held by us or our licensors.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable and non-transferable license to use that software only within the scope and for the purposes of the Service.
This license does not give you any right to access, use or disclose the source code of software we have not published under an open-source license. All techniques, algorithms and procedures in that software and its documentation are our or our licensors' sole property.
All rights and licenses granted to you under this section end immediately when the Agreement ends or expires. This does not affect any open-source license you hold.
API usage terms
You may access the registry through the API at api.zipviz.ai. Any use of the API, including through a third-party product or service, is bound by these Terms and also by these specific terms:
- the API is rate-limited per IP address, and you must not try to get around the limits;
- you must not cache registry data;
- you understand and agree that we are not responsible or liable for any damage or loss resulting from your use of the API, or from your use of any third-party product or service that accesses data through the API.
Liability and indemnification
All users (including USA)
Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided strictly on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Use of the Service is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we expressly disclaim all conditions, representations and warranties, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including, but not limited to, any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of third-party rights. No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained by you from us or through the Service will create any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.
Without limiting the foregoing, we and our subsidiaries, affiliates, licensors, officers, directors, agents, co-branders, partners, suppliers and employees do not warrant that the content is accurate, reliable or correct; that the Service will meet your requirements; that the Service will be available at any particular time or location, uninterrupted or secure; that any defects or errors will be corrected; or that the Service is free of viruses or other harmful components. Any content downloaded or otherwise obtained through the Service is downloaded at your own risk, and you are solely responsible for any damage to your computer system or mobile device, or loss of data, that results from that download or your use of the Service.
We do not warrant, endorse, guarantee or assume responsibility for any product or service advertised or offered by a third party through the Service or any hyperlinked website or service, and we are not a party to, and do not monitor, any transaction between you and third-party providers of products or services.
The Service may become inaccessible, or may not function properly with your web browser, mobile device or operating system. We cannot be held liable for any perceived or actual damages arising from the Service's content, operation or use.
Federal law, some states and other jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion and limitation of certain implied warranties, so the above exclusions may not apply to you. These Terms give you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. The disclaimers and exclusions in these Terms do not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable law.
Limitations of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will we or our subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, co-branders, partners, suppliers and employees be liable for any indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including without limitation damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to the use of, or inability to use, the Service, or for:
- any damage, loss or injury resulting from hacking, tampering or other unauthorized access to or use of the Service, your identity or the information it contains;
- any errors, mistakes or inaccuracies of content;
- personal injury or property damage, of any nature whatsoever, resulting from your access to or use of the Service;
- any unauthorized access to or use of our secure servers and any personal information stored on them;
- any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Service;
- any bugs, viruses, trojan horses or the like that may be transmitted to or through the Service;
- any errors or omissions in any content, or any loss or damage incurred as a result of the use of any content posted, emailed, transmitted or otherwise made available through the Service; and
- the defamatory, offensive or illegal conduct of any user or third party.
In no event will we or our subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, co-branders, partners, suppliers and employees be liable for any claims, proceedings, liabilities, obligations, damages, losses or costs in an amount exceeding the amount you paid us under these Terms in the preceding 12 months, or during the term of the Agreement, whichever is shorter.
This limitation of liability applies to the fullest extent permitted by law in the applicable jurisdiction, whether the alleged liability is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or any other basis, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damage.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. These Terms give you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. The disclaimers, exclusions and limitations of liability in these Terms do not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable law.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold us and our subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, co-branders, partners, suppliers and employees harmless from and against any and all claims or demands, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses, including, but not limited to, legal fees and expenses, arising from:
- your use of and access to the Service, including any data or content you transmit or receive;
- your violation of these Terms, including, but not limited to, any breach of the representations and warranties in them;
- your violation of any third-party rights, including, but not limited to, any right of privacy or intellectual property rights;
- your violation of any law, rule or regulation;
- any content submitted through your identity, including by a third party using your private key, including, but not limited to, misleading, false or inaccurate information;
- your willful misconduct.

Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, condition, warranty, right or remedy you may have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or any similar State or Territory law that cannot be excluded, restricted or modified (non-excludable right). To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability to you, including liability for breach of a non-excludable right and any liability not otherwise excluded under these Terms, is limited, at our option, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having the services supplied again.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold us and our subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, partners, suppliers and employees harmless from any claims or demands, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses, including legal fees, arising from:
- your use of and access to the Service, including any data or content you or your agent transmit or receive;
- your violation of these Terms, including any breach of the representations and warranties in them;
- your violation of any third-party right, including any privacy or intellectual property right;
- your violation of any law, rule or regulation;
- anything signed with your private key or published under your identity, including by a third party using your key;
- your willful misconduct.
Common provisions
No waiver
If we do not assert a right or provision under these Terms, that is not a waiver of it. No waiver is a further or continuing waiver of that term or any other term.
Service interruption
To keep the Service running well, we may interrupt it for maintenance, system updates or other changes, and we will tell you appropriately.
Within the limits of the law, we may also suspend or end the Service altogether. If we end it, we will cooperate with you so you can withdraw your Personal Data or information in line with applicable law.
The Service may also be unavailable for reasons outside our reasonable control, such as force majeure (for example labor action, infrastructure breakdowns or blackouts).
ZipViz is a new service. We may change, limit or stop parts of it. We will try to give reasonable notice on this site of changes that materially affect existing identities.
Service reselling
You may not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any part of the Service without our express prior written permission, given directly or through an authorized reselling program. This does not restrict anything you are allowed to do under an open-source license.
Privacy policy
To learn how we use your Personal Data, see our Privacy Policy at zipviz.ai/privacy.
Intellectual property rights
Without affecting any more specific provision of these Terms, all intellectual property rights related to the Service, such as copyrights, trademark rights, patent rights and design rights, are the exclusive property of us or our licensors and are protected by applicable laws and international treaties.
All trademarks, nominal or figurative, and all other marks, trade names, service marks, word marks, illustrations, images or logos appearing in connection with the Service are, and remain, the exclusive property of us or our licensors.
Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms at any time. If we do, we will tell you appropriately.
Changes affect our relationship with you only from then on.
If you keep using the Service, you accept the revised Terms. If you do not want to be bound by the changes, you must stop using the Service. Not accepting the revised Terms may entitle either party to end the Agreement.
The previous version governs the relationship before you accepted the new one. You can get any previous version from us.
If the law requires it, we will state the date the changed Terms take effect.
Assignment of contract
We may transfer, assign, dispose of by novation, or subcontract any or all rights or obligations under these Terms, taking your legitimate interests into account. The provisions about changes to these Terms apply accordingly.
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written permission.
Contacts
All communications about use of the Service must be sent using the contact details in this document.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is or becomes invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, that does not affect the validity of the remaining provisions, which stay in full force and effect.
Any invalid or unenforceable provision will be interpreted, construed and reformed to the extent reasonably required to make it valid, enforceable and consistent with its original intent. These Terms are the entire Agreement between you and us on their subject matter and replace all other communications, including prior agreements, on that subject. These Terms will be enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law.
EU users
If any provision of these Terms is void, invalid or unenforceable, the parties will do their best to agree, amicably, on valid and enforceable provisions to replace it. If they cannot, the void, invalid or unenforceable provision will be replaced by the applicable statutory provision, if the law allows. The invalidity of a particular provision does not void the whole Agreement, unless the severed provision is essential to it, or so important that the parties would not have entered into the contract had they known it was invalid, or the remaining provisions would cause unacceptable hardship for either party.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
Exception for European Consumers. If you are a European Consumer and your habitual residence is in a country whose law gives you a higher level of consumer protection, that higher standard applies.
Venue of jurisdiction
The courts of New South Wales, Australia have exclusive jurisdiction to decide any dispute arising from or connected with these Terms.
Exception for European Consumers. This does not apply to users who are European Consumers, or to Consumers based in Switzerland, Norway or Iceland.
